For a community where the nearest fire station is five kilometers away and the nearest Central 911 station is 18 kilometers away, the new Cabantian Public Safety Complex will be a welcome development that promises to help keep Cabantian and its neighboring communities safe and secure.
The Cabantian Public Safety Complex, a donation from Alsons Development and Investment Corporation (Alsons Dev) to the City Government of Davao, is an integrated compound that will contain three buildings for a Central 911 satellite station, a fire station, and a police station. The company also intends to donate an ambulance for the use of Central 911.
Gracing the groundbreaking event on July 17, 2015, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte thanked Alsons Dev for its generous donation. The ceremony began with the blessing of the site led by Fr. Jesus Samaniego. A time capsule was then lowered by Mayor Duterte, Alsons Dev Executive Vice President Rosie Dominguez, Alsons Dev Director Alex I. Alcantara, Sr. Supt. Vicente Danao of the Philippine National Police, Central 911 Chief Emmanuel Jaldon, and BFP City Director Carlos T. Dueñas.
“As residential communities in the Buhangin District continue to increase in number, it has become evident that a public safety complex in this area is essential to make sure that life’s emergencies are immediately taken care of.” said Alsons Dev EVP Rosie Dominguez. “At Alsons Dev, it is our corporate mission that we become instruments in enhancing the lives of the people in the communities where we operate.”
Sitting on a land area of 2,000 square meters, the Cabantian Public Safety Complex is the first component of the proposed 10-hectare commercial, institutional, and educational town center located just outside of Northtown Alsons Dev’s I16-hectare residential township development.
The Cabantian Public Safety Complex is slated for completion in the 2nd quarter of 2016.
A healthy lifestyle is becoming more viable throughout Davao City, with the surge of more options for health, wellness, and recreation. One development, however, is set to blend all of these elements together and present them in one grand setting.
Alsons Development and Investment Corporation (Alsons Dev) recently held the groundbreaking for The Club at Northtown, an exciting 2.5-hectare clubhouse complex within Phase 2 of its newest residential development, Northtown.
The groundbreaking was led by former Sarangani Governor, Miguel Rene A. Dominguez. An open house was held, which transformed a portion of Northtown into a vibrant, fun-filled fair on May 9 and 10.
Several tents were set up onsite to house activities that gave guests a glimpse of what they can enjoy at The Club at Northtown. One tent featured a mini spa for relaxing massages. Ping pong tables and basketball arcade game were also set up for guests while inflatable playgrounds were made available for the younger guests to enjoy. The afternoon’s highlight was a cooking demo by celebrity chef Edward Mateo of Royal Patisserie in Manila, where guests learned how to prepare Coral Salad, Pesto Tuna with Garlic Sour Cream Sauce, and Deconstructed Cheesecake.
The Club at Northtown, when completed, will feature a sprawling clubhouse complex comprised of several pavilions. The Main Pavilion will to cater to grand social gatherings. The Wellness Pavilion includes a resort pool; covered playground, and show kitchen. The Sports Complex will .have a covered basketball court, a tennis court, badminton courts, a lounge, and a. regulation-size soccer field, which can host professional and junior games alike.
”Seeing the extent of the planning and the passion that was put into this clubhouse, I think The Club at Northtown will be comparable to the likes of Polo Club in Manila. It will.be one-of-a-kind, not only in Mindanao, but, maybe in the -Philippines as Alsons Dev pushes the standards for development and quality- here in Davao,” said Dominguez.
Safety and security in the neighborhood were highlighted as a top priority at the recent open house event at Northtown, the newest development of Alsons Development and Investment Corporation (Alsons Dev).
The open house event was held after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Alsons Dev and the City Government of Davao to build a public safety complex at Northtown in Cabantian, Buhangin. The 1,500-square meter complex donated by Alsons Dev to the City of Davao will house 911, fire, and police stations. The facilities will allow faster response to emergencies in Cabantian and neighboring barangays in Buhangin.
Welcoming guests at the event, Alsons Dev Assistant General Manager for Operations Conrado de Jesus said, “Alsons Dev takes safety and security seriously, and we look forward to the public safety complex serving Northtown and the bigger Buhangin community.”
Basic safety seminars conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP), Central 911, and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) were organized for the guests of the open house event. The two-day event also included a poster-making contest for kids, to help raise awareness for Fire Prevention Month.
Alsons Dev will commence construction of the community support complex in the middle of 2015, and expects the complex to be completed by the first quarter of 2016.
The City Government of Davao and Alsons Development and Investment Corporation (Alsons Dev) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to build an integrated public safety complex in Northtown, Alsons Dev’s newest residential community in Cabantian.
The 1,500-square meter complex will include Central 911, fire and police stations. The public safety complex will provide residents of Cabantian and the Buhangin district with better access to public safety services and faster response to emergencies. This will also benefit communities further away from the city center, according to Central 911 Chief Emmanuel Jaldon. “It will be easier for response teams to take action during emergencies in communities like Indangan, Tigatto, and Waan,” explained Jaldon.
At the signing held at Marco Polo Davao last February, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte welcomed the plans for the public safety complex. “This is a timely development as Davao City continues to grow,” said Duterte.
Alsons Dev executives also met with Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Senior Superintendent Elmer Asumbrado and Davao City Police Chief Vicente Danao to further discuss the proposed fire and police stations. “Having a police station in Cabantian will enable more efficient police services,” Danao said.
The public safety complex is a donation of Alsons Dev to the City of Davao. Construction begins in mid- 2015, with target completion by 2016.
“As far as I know, most donations we have received have been land only. This is the first time that a private company has donated both the land and the structures for such purpose,” said Asumbrado.
For Alsons Dev Executive Vice President Rosie Dominguez, this donation is an expression of the company’s continued commitment to the residents of Davao City. “Alsons Dev is grateful to have been part of the city’s growth and prosperity over the past 50 years. The donation of a public safety complex in Cabantian is our contribution to ensuring that Davao City continues to be one of the safest and most livable cities in Asia.”

On March 1, 2013, Alsons Properties celebrated the launch of Northtown, their latest Alsons Properties flagship project. The event was held at the SMX Convention Center in SM Lanang Premier, Davao City.
Located in the highlands of Buhangin, Northtown is a 116-hectare residential township that is being built as a comprehensively planned community that embodies sustainable living, with recreational areas, commercial establishments, an educational institution and support facilities, such as a fire station and police outpost.
Convenient access also plays a big part in Northtown’s planning. Two entrances will offer its residents easy drives to different parts of the city. The Cabantian gate will allow residents to exit to the north of Davao, while the Tigatto gate is only 20 minutes away from J.P. Laurel business district and Matina.
In keeping with the concept of a sustainable, planned community, the launch venue was transformed into a lush garden with multi-media displays that not only entertained but educated guests on how Northtown combines modern comforts with green masterplanning.
The program, hosted by celebrated motivational speaker Anthony Pangilinan, began with welcome remarks by Alsons Properties Executive Vice President Rosvida A. Dominguez. This was followed by the preview on Northtown. It showed how the project was conceptualized as a walkable and bikable community by the country’s best planners and designers, such as world-renowned masterplanner Arch. Felino A. Palafox, Jr. of Palafox Associates, well-known hospitality design specialists Arch. Orlando M. Mateo and Arch. Jose Carlo S. Mateo of MANA Architecture + Interior Design, illustrious landscape designer Arch. Joaquin M. Zialcita of ZBA Landscape Architects, and established engineering designer architect Dr. Ernesto S. de Castro of ESCA Incorporated.
The event was attended by over 600 guests, including the Alcantara family who came in full force to support the Northtown flagship launch, as well as celebrate the 50th anniversary of Alsons Properties and the centenary of their founder, Conrado Alcantara.
A speech was also given by Alcantara Group Chairman Tomas I. Alcantara, where he shared how their father, Conrado Alcantara, grew the business from its humble beginnings to one of the largest and most diversified Filipino-owned conglomerates in the country, and how their parents advocated the value of education. This, he shared, is why Alsons Properties commemorates its 50th anniversary by supporting Davao City’s education program with a new classroom facility at the Pilar P. Rodriguez Elementary School in Barangay Tigatto, as well as books and equipment for the City’s second Mobile Library. On hand to receive commemorative tokens for the city were representatives of the Offices of the Mayor and Vice Mayor, Engr. Jaime G. Adalin and City Councilor Melchor V. Quitain
At the end of the ceremony, the Board of Directors of Alsons Properties, the project’s design and planning consultants and the senior managers of Alsons Properties were called on stage to be recognized for their contributions, as well as to toast to the successful launching of Northtown.
